Castles - Abandoned
Castles is a melodic metal band from Vancouver, BC. I reached out to their vocalist, Landyn, as he and I have mutual friends, and he was looking for someone to mix their debut EP.
This was a really fun project to work on as it was strictly mixing versus engineering and recording. I was able to play with various guitar tones and drum samples to find something that was similar to what I envisioned the band to sound like live.
I learned a lot from this EP and it showed me that everyone has a different perspective on how their songs should sound. An added bonus was creating an intro for the EP where my wife supplied a voice-over that Landyn wrote out for her.
